Hi, I’m Britta. I’m a nomad – I’ve lived on 4 continents to date. Travel is my chosen way of life, be it solo, with my partner, or in groups of like-minded friendly buddies. Oftentimes I feel most at home surrounded by unspoiled and uncurated nature, not necessarily the most scenic, and definitely not the touristy spots.
Why my love for travel? I have asked myself this question many times.
Here’s my answer: We all grow up with our own cultural and personal biases, some we are conscious of, some we are not. Travelling forces me to re-examine my values and beliefs each time I leave my comfort zone. Strange as it sounds, besides enjoying nature, I’m a sucker of this feeling of continuous doubt of my own values. It teaches me over and over again to “get real”, meaning: to not take my ego too seriously, to shed my unconscious bias, to stare the fear of the unknown in the face until it backs off.
I have also been a career girl in my past life – a PhD in Computer Science, followed by 7 years in Silicon Valley working on “the next big thing” …until I decided to drop all that and join 3PlayGrounds.
Why, you might ask.
Because for the first time in my life I believe in a mission. I can help make the world a better place. But I can only do it with your help.
Let us travel the world together. Let us learn about places, cultures, people with an open heart. Let's commit to shedding all the conscious and unconscious biases and fears we have of each other! Let us make this world of ours a truly inclusive place for all.
And: Let us level the world’s economis playing field! Let us build a movement that gives that rural guide in that Indonesian village direct access to 1st world travellers, so he (and not that overseas travel agent) can make a living off tourism.
