Who's going?

India is home to some fascinating wildlife and has the largest population of Royal Bengal Tigers in the wild. Join me for a wildlife safari to the central India state of Madhya Pradesh where we will explore 3 national parks of diverse flora and fauna. This trip is limited to 4 people (ladies only) to comfortably fit into a 4WD safari vehicle. The cost is around SGD 3,000 including flights, accommodations, meals, safari activities (game drives in private vehicle and with private guide) and tipping. 23 Mar: Arrive in India. 2 nights at Pench National Park

Pench National Park derives its name from a River called Pench which flows through the park. The landscape varies between undulating terrain with small hills, open grassy meadows and dense forests. Major species of fauna found in the region include tigers, cheetal, sambhar, nilgai, jackals, wild dogs, sloth bears, langoors, small Indian civets and palm civets. Other mammalian species animals are lesser cat, jungle cat, leopard cat, striped hyena, wolf, pangolin, chausingha, rhesus macaque, flying squirrels and the mighty Indian gaur. Around 220 species of birds are listed in the park.

25 Mar: 3 nights at Satpura National Park

This park is not a usual park on the itinerary of most guests, hence it is best protected, and least disturbed. There are varied ways to explore Satpura flora and fauna. The usual Jeep safaris, the boat safaris, and interesting walking safaris. Tigers are present here but not so often sighted as the other parks, but there is good chance for Leopard and Sloth Bear sighting in Satpura. Very contrasting landscapes, from hilly to gorges, ravines and plains of Churna. Denwa river flowing through the park and it is a haven for migratory birds in winters. There are hyena, langur, Rhesus macaque, Marsh crocodile, nilgai, pangolin, porcupine, aatel, Smooth otter, wild boar, palm civet and the small Indian civet. The leopards and wolves prowl the park and wild dogs can also be seen in groups hunting prey.

28 Mar: 3 nights at Kanha National Park

One of India’s most spectacular and exciting National Parks, Kanha is home to a significant population of Bengal Tiger. The wild thickets of sal and bamboo forests, rolling meadows and dramatic ravines, are home to the Kanha National Park. The park provided the inspiration to Rudyard Kipling to write his classic novel ‘Jungle Book’. There are leopards, the sloth bear and Indian wild dog. Herbivores include barasingha, barking deer, chousingha, sambar, gaur (Indian bison) and blue bull (nilgai). Other than jeep safaris, guests can visit the local tribal villages.
